To connect NetSuite with Forwardly, you'll need to enable a few features and generate credentials in NetSuite first, then enter those credentials in Forwardly. Setup takes about 15 minutes and is a one-time process per subsidiary.
Tip: Make sure you have Administrator access to your NetSuite account and access to the specific NetSuite instance you want to connect to Forwardly before you start.
How to prepare to connect your business to NetSuite on Forwardly
Before connecting Forwardly to NetSuite, you'll need to enable a couple of features in your NetSuite account.
- Go to Setup, then Company, then Enable Features, and then SuiteCloud.
- Under Manage Authentication, check Token-Based Authentication.
- Click Save.
Create the Forwardly integration record
- Go to Setup, then Integration, then Manage Integrations, then New.
- Enter a recognizable name, such as "Forwardly Integration."
- Under the Authentication subtab, check Token-Based Authentication and leave the other authentication settings unchanged.
- Click Save.
Reminder: Saving this record generates a Consumer Key and Consumer Secret. Copy and store both somewhere secure before you close the window; NetSuite won't show these values again.
Create an access token
- Go to Setup, then Users/Roles, then Access Tokens, then New.
- Enter the following:
- Application Name: Forwardly Integration
- Role: Administrator, or a custom integration role with adequate permissions
- User: Your active NetSuite Administrator user
- Click Save.
Reminder: This generates a Token ID and Token Secret. Copy and store both alongside your Consumer Key and Consumer Secret; you'll need all four in the next step.
Locate your NetSuite Account ID
- Go to Setup, then Company, then Company Information.
- Copy the Account ID field exactly as it appears.
Tip: Don't reformat your Account ID. A sandbox Account ID might look like 123456_SB1, while the account-specific domain uses a different format, like 123456-sb1.app.netsuite.com. These are two different values, so use the Account ID as-is. |
Connect your business on Forwardly to NetSuite
Now that you've prepared your credentials in Oracle NetSuite, it's time to finish connecting your business on Forwardly.
- Open the NetSuite integration in Forwardly.
- Enter your Account ID, Consumer Key, Consumer Secret, Token ID, and Token Secret.
- Click Connect.
- Select the NetSuite subsidiary you want to connect to this Forwardly account.
- Click Continue.
Once you complete these steps, NetSuite and Forwardly should be fully synced, starting with your Chart of Accounts, vendors, bills, vendor credits, and bill payments. The initial synchronization may take some time depending on the amount of data in your NetSuite account.
Tip: Managing multiple subsidiaries under NetSuite OneWorld? Each Forwardly connection links to one subsidiary, so repeat these steps and select a different subsidiary to add another connection.
Troubleshooting your NetSuite connection
If your connection fails, re-verify the following details:
- Were all five credential fields copied correctly, with no extra spaces?
- Were the Token ID and Token Secret generated for the Forwardly integration record and the NetSuite user/role selected when the token was created?
- Are Token-Based Authentication and REST Web Services still checked? Find it under Setup > Company > Enable Features > SuiteCloud.
- Is your Account ID entered exactly as shown in NetSuite? For Sandbox accounts, do not convert underscores to hyphens or change the capitalization. For example, if NetSuite shows
123456_SB1, enter123456_SB1.
If your subsidiary isn't showing up during setup, confirm it's set to Active under Setup > Company > Classifications > Subsidiaries, and that your Administrator user has permissions for it.
If you've re-checked all details and the connection is still failing, please submit a ticket to speak with our team.
