Setting roles and permissions for users plays a crucial role in upholding security and control within Forwardly. To efficiently manage user access and maintain a secure environment for your business's finances in Forwardly, use Roles & Permissions to set access efficiently.
Forwardly comes pre-programmed with two default user "Roles", Admin and Read-Only. Both roles are what they say on the tin; users with the Admin role get full control over the business and users with the Read-only role can view everything, but cannot make any changes.
Each business can create up to ten Roles (including the two default rules) for different levels of business access.
How to create a Custom Role for a business on Forwardly
- Go to Settings on the left-hand navigation bar.
- Select Users & Roles, then Roles & Permissions.
- Click Add Custom Role.
- Enter a Role Name and Role Description to help summarize the Custom Role.
- Set Role Permissions for the Pay, Get Paid, and Settings modules. Setting Manage access comes with View access for that section of the module.
- When finished with setting role permissions, click Create to save the Custom Role. It can now be used when adding users to a business.
| Reminder: Beneficial Owners for a business are assigned Admin permissions by default. |
What do the Default Roles mean?
Forwardly has two default Roles set for every business:
Admin: Admins control roles, users, payments, bills, invoices, approvals, and settings, with the ability to configure workflows, manage policies, and bypass approvals.
Read-only: Can view all invoices, bills, payment statuses, and settings but cannot make changes. Ideal for auditors or compliance officers.
