Your primary account on the Fowardly platform is the account where all incoming funds are credited, and payments are made, unless a different receiving account is set for a specific customer.
All non-primary bank accounts have the ability to send money, but you can easily switch different bank accounts to the primary role to accept deposits into the account. This allows flexibility, such as switching to an account with surplus funds for making payments or retaining an account with low funds as primary while receiving payments.
How do I mark an account as my primary bank account?
During the bank account connection process, you will need to select an account to be your primary payment account. This account will be visible when you initiate a payment (sending or receiving). If you need to change your primary account, you can easily switch the role to another bank account:
- On the left-hand navigation bar, click on Settings.
- Select Payment Methods, and then Bank Account.
- On the list, find the account that you would like to set as your new Primary account and open the options dropdown under Action.
- Click on Mark as Primary beside that account.
| Reminder: Changing your Primary Bank Account will not affect customers where you have set a specific receiving account to receive bank payments from them. |
What will happen if none of my bank accounts are marked as a primary account?
When you connect banking information, you will be prompted to select a bank account as primary from the get-go. You cannot deselect an account as primary; your only choice is to mark another account as your primary bank account.
If I add multiple bank accounts, which bank account will receive my invoice payments?
By default, payments are received into only your Primary Bank Account. However, if you have set a customer-specific receiving bank account, payments from that customer will be deposited into the selected account. If no specific account is set for a customer, the Primary Bank Account will be used first.
| Tip: If a selected receiving bank account is removed or unavailable, payments will automatically fall back to your Primary Bank Account. |
