In short, maybe.
We always recommend companies connect their accounting software to Forwardly. We integrate directly and securely with leading accounting software to pull invoices and bills directly into the Forwardly platform to make it easier to pay your vendors and get paid from your clients. We also automatically reconcile payments in your software once they're completed, which saves hours per month on reconciliation tasks and improves data quality to reduce audits.
When using Forwardly to pay or be paid, half of the payer/payee relationship requires an accounting connection so we can pull the bill or invoice. It is possible to use Forwardly to pay bills or receive payments without an accounting connection, but only if your payer or payee has their accounting connection established and either sends you the payment request or sends the payment.
For instance, say Maple Syrup Enterprises wants to pay a bill owed to Apple Pie Ventures. If Maple Syrup Enterprises' accounting software is connected, then Forwardly will sync the bill, and allow Maple Syrup Enterprises to send the payment directly. Apple Pie Ventures can then accept the payment on Forwardly without connecting an accounting system.
In the same scenario, if Maple Syrup Enterprises' accounting system isn't connected, then Apple Pie Ventures will need to connect its accounting system, sync the invoice, and send a payment request to Maple Syrup Enterprises. Maple Syrup Enterprises can then pay the bill without connecting an accounting system.
