Forwardly helps people who manage, audit, or analyze finances companies easily add and connect to their accounting software. Connecting a business is easy as long as the business has its accounting data on any of our supported accounting systems.
When you create an account, you will automatically be prompted to add a business before continuing.
- Select your accounting platform (this step is recommended, but optional).
- If you select an accounting platform, authenticate your connection by logging in to your accounting software provider.
- Verify your business details, including business name and type.
- Add details on the business's beneficial owners with over 25% business ownership.
- Link a bank account using Plaid for secure bank account access (this step can be temporarily skipped).
Add a New Business to Forwardly
- Open your business list in the top right of the screen by selecting your active business.
- Click Add another business.
- Follow the steps from above.
Want to add another business? Simply start over from step one. Add as many as you'd like!
Can I connect multiple businesses with Forwardly?
Yes, absolutely. The process of adding a second (or fiftieth!) business is the same as adding your first business.
Can I disconnect a business's accounting software from Forwardly?
Sometimes it may be necessary to disconnect a business's accounting connection if the business in question switches its accounting software.
- Open the business you'd like to disconnect the accounting software for.
- On the left-hand navigation bar, select Settings.
- Choose Integrations.
- Click Disconnect.
- Confirm that you are sure you would like to disconnect your accounting system.
| Tip: Disconnecting a business from Forwardly will only sever the accounting connection. If you want to delete a business entirely, you'll need to submit a ticket. |
Can I reconnect a business after disconnecting it from Forwardly?
Yes, you absolutely can add a business back after disconnecting it from the Forwardly system. You can always press the business's Reconnect button on the Integrations page to reestablish the accounting connection.
Why do I have to reconnect businesses sometimes?
To keep your accounts secure, Forwardly's access to your accounting data is temporary. This means that Forwardly's access to your accounting software may expire, and you'll need to reconnect your business to restore access. This shouldn't take more than a few seconds.
If I'm an accountant, can I add my client's business to Forwardly on their behalf?
Absolutely. As an accounting firm, you'll gain access to a full client management dashboard. See the steps here to add a client.
Why can't I add another business?
Forwardly applies checks when multiple businesses are added within a short period to ensure fair usage of the platform. If you see a message like “You’ve created several businesses recently. Please wait before creating another,” it means you’ve reached our temporary limit. We recommend waiting a while before trying to connect again and, in the future, avoiding adding multiple businesses back-to-back unless required.
